based on a riff that has been kicking around for years, it has seen a lot of incarnations. For this session I recorded a long jammy version that in the end was just too slow. I grabbed Booth for an evening and we went into the Noisefloor for an emergency session and banged out this 3 minute version.
lyrics
Dig It Up
I could have learned a lot
from last night’s dreams
but they slipped off my pillow
and down through the seams
through the cracks in the floor
into the foundation
they hit the water table where they rest for gestation
in the ground
in the cold, cold ground
you gotta dig it up
anytime you need it now
dig it up
Enter at this point the image of the old man
a wishbone switch of apple tree
in his weathered hands
right behind, as well, is his wife
dangling on a string a wedding ring
a device for divining
the water from the ground
the cold, cold ground
you gotta dig it up
anytime you need it now
dig it up
